Top tips to keep your cool in the hot weather

Although there are plenty of benefits of the sunshine, in particular its super mood boosting powers, it can also be uncomfortable for many, particularly older people and those living with dementia.

To keep cool and comfortable during hotter periods, our top tips are:

💧 Drink plenty of water to keep hydrated throughout the day

🍉 Eat fresh fruit and salads with high water content, such as cucumber and watermelon, as another way to keep you hydrated

👕 Dress in light, loose-fitting clothing

🏡 Close blinds/curtains and open windows to keep the house cool

🛀 Take a cooler bath or shower to cool down

🌞 Avoid the midday sun where possible and appropriately apply sun cream
