Festive fun and fundraising at Progress Lifeline

Posted on: 9/12/2022

Progress Lifeline operates 24/7, 365 days a year. Our Alarm Response Centre and Emergency Home Responders will once again be working over the Christmas period to help vulnerable people get the emergency help that they need.

So, to celebrate their hard work and bring some festive cheer, there are several festive activities underway throughout this month - Here’s what we’ve been up to so far and what else is to come…

  1. Christmas Jumper Day – for Save the Children

On Thursday 8th December, Progress Lifeline raised vital funds for Save the Children's 11th annual Christmas Jumper Day.

By pulling on our Christmassy knits and donating, we raised £51 for the charity. Progress Lifeline is part of Progress Housing Group, who will match the amount we raised as part of their Charity Fund, taking our total to £102. To make things even better, the UK government has promised to double all donations raised, taking our grand total to £204!

Donations raised through Christmas Jumper Day will go towards supporting Save the Children’s vital work in the UK and around the world, enabling them to make lasting change for the children who need it most.

  1. “Best Dressed” Christmas Decorations Competition between our two Alarm Response Centres

The Alarm Response Centre (ARC) operates across two sites, Sumner House and Anchor Court, and this year they’ve taken part in a (friendly) competition to discover which the ‘Best Dressed ARC’ is.

For the last 8 days, both sites have been using their creative skills to decorate the Alarm Response Centre with festive decorations, displays, hanging icicles and cheeky elves in a bid to win the title of “Best Dressed ARC 2022”. Take a look at the amazing work below and find out who was announced as the winner…

Joanne Bushell, Head of Progress Lifeline, and Kathryn Scott, Head of Business Development, carefully judged the two offices, naming Anchor Court as this year’s ‘Best Dress ARC’.

Joanne said, “It is fantastic to see so much creativity, fun and hard work that has gone into making the ARCs so festive to help spread a little joy and ‘competitiveness’ as our teams work so hard over the Christmas period helping those in need. It was a close call, but Anchor Court have been crowned “Best Dressed ARC 2022.

Further festive fun coming up…

Guess The Tree competition – detective work needed

The ARC operators are sending in photographs of their Christmas trees that they have decorated at home and their colleagues have to match the tree to the person who it belongs too. It will be interesting to see if our staff personalities can be guessed by their Christmas trees, and what colours or items might give them a clue.

Christmas Eve & New Year’s Eve Quiz

On the eves of Christmas and the new year, while most of us will be celebrating with our family & friends, our staff will be working hard to assist those in need. Throughout the evening, quizzes will take place (in between calls) with prizes to be won.

All of these activities are a little something to thank our operators for their continued dedication to supporting our service users all day, every day.
