Progress Lifeline Supports National Self Care Week

self care week
What is self care week?
Self care week (12th-18th November 2018) is an annual national awareness week, organised by the Self Care Forum, to promote self care amongst individuals and families, and local care and health services.
With people living longer, there’s encouragement for people to better look after their own health.
By empowering people to take control of, and improve, their own health and wellbeing, health professionals are better able to prioritise people with more serious health conditions and emergencies.
How Progress Lifeline facilitates self care
Progress Lifeline supports self care by enabling people to take advantage of the growing use of home safety and wellbeing technology.
Technology enabled care (TEC) services and products, including smart devices, and telehealth and telecare technology, can be used within your own home or while out and about, and can be installed in the home or worn.
By providing 24 hour a day remote home monitoring linked to telecare sensors and red button personal pendant alarms, Progress Lifeline supports you to look after your own, and your families’ health.
Self care in the form of technology enabled care services, provides peace of mind for you, while also helping to manage the demand on health and care services.
What’s happening locally for self care week?
The theme this year is ‘Choose self care for life’.
With Fylde Council getting in touch to tell us about their plans for self care week across Fylde, Wyre and Blackpool, Progress Lifeline was excited to get involved.
Health and care services such as Progress Lifeline, NHS Fylde and Wyre CCG, the Steady On Falls Prevention service, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and Mindsmatter (amongst many others) have joined together to put on a calendar of varied activities to help people understand how they can make self care work for their situation and lifestyle, and how their local services can support them.
